This course is of 1 year duration. It is a psychological specialty course covering broad domains of the counselling process, the outcomes, training and supervision. It deals with an understanding of psychological principles and techniques used in counselling. It covers many areas in counselling such as grief counselling, school counselling, family counselling, couples counselling and counselling patients with health-related problems and terminal illnesses in the hospital settings, in addition to career guidance, and preventive counselling.
Students will be given the opportunity to study and practice counselling in important areas such as substance abuse, learning disability, behaviour problems in children, adolescent problems, counselling for special groups such as patients suffering from cancer, HIV etc.
